From Vail, Arizona to San Diego / Camping

Following the morning at the Pima Air &
Space Museum we made the 400+ mile run to San Diego.
The desert is beautiful in it's own way but I wouldn't want to be stuck there.
We saw huge cactus, blow sand drifts and crossed the mountains which separate
the California desert from the coastal greenery.
Don't drive those mountains at night - winds were easily 50-60 mph!

Camping with The English Family
Probably the highlight of the entire
trip. Tim & Emme were our neighbors and dive buddies in Subic Bay, Philippines
from 1990-1992.
Tim was actually the last person to leave Cubi Point Naval Air
Station when we closed the Subic Bay facilities.
Tim & Emme have replaced their
dive gear with a camper and ATV's.
They and daughter Judy were kind enough to drag us out to
Ocotillo Wells.
Ocotillo is an 80,000 acre ATV paradise in the middle of
nowhere.
