Schlitterbahn Water park Resort in New Braunfels, Texas, is built along the cool spring-fed waters of the Comal River. Their feature attraction Master Blaster ride has often been voted as the best water ride in the US by travel publications and is frequently mentioned on the Travel Channel as such. The park boasts over 3 miles of inner tube rides, 7 water playgrounds for children, 17 water slides, and the world's first surfing machine (Boogie Bahn, which is used by both professionals and casual visitors). Schlitterbahn is widely considered to be the best water park in the US, and has been named so by the Travel Channel several years running. It's one hour from our house and we make it there at least once every summer. The park allows you to bring in your own food and drinks and offers hundreds of shaded picnic benches. Along with the other tubing attractions in the area, New Braunfels makes for a great 2 day vacation stop.

After a couple days in New Braunfels we headed to Corpus Christi and the Gulf of Mexico. Spent a nice couple days at a hotel right on the beach. Highlight of the trip for everyone was the fishing. We went out on a charter with Captain Mike O'Dell who made everything easy for rookies like us. We caught ten good keepers of speckled trout. We caught twice that which we threw back due to size. We had a blast and Captain Mike did a great job dodging the rainy weather - 80% chance of rain and we stayed dry until 1:30 PM.
